This email is giving background information about edTPA, the new teacher performance assessment that TEA will use to replace the PPR. All community college teacher education programs should be aware of this drastic change in order to prepare our students for their university EPP. There is much controversy concerning this assessment among the universities; however, it is inevitable that this assessment will roll out within a few years to replace the PPR.

As Texas Educator Preparation Programs (EPPs) explore the opportunity to pilot edTPA, the Stanford Center for Assessment, Learning and Equity (SCALE) developed an edTPA informational webinar for Texas to increase awareness and understanding of the educative purposes of the performance-based, subject-specific support and assessment program. To view this 18 minute overview of edTPA, please go to edTPA Informational Session for Texas. We also encourage you to share the overview with your colleagues (e.g., school partners).
